In recent years, product management has emerged as a pivotal career in the journalism industry, especially in the face of the ongoing editorial business crisis. Product managers are crucial in driving digital transformation, finding innovative ways to engage audiences, and boosting revenue. However, this career comes with its own set of challenges. Curious to explore whether professionals and newsrooms in Brazil face similar obstacles, the author drew inspiration from previous research within the NPA community to conduct interviews with leading figures in Brazilian journalism. These interviews, held in March 2024, highlighted six key areas of concern: scope, communication, culture, training, career, and potential improvements.
